Mirukuma: give away, shopping service and CC value packs!

Recently a post on EGL livejournal popped up about a give away from Mirukuma. I had never heard from Mirukuma before, but because I love give aways (free stuff!), I decided to check out the Mirukuma site!

Screen shot from the Mirukuma blog post

I love the idea of the Closet Child Value packs. I've always wanted something from Closet Child, but it always seemed so difficult to buy from there, or any other site with an ordering form, haha.

The sad thing though about the Value packs is that they are only available until August 15. I probably won't have enough money to buy a pack though. Have to buy books for my school T_T

Anyway, give aways are a nice way to get free stuff. Dutch love free stuff <3

Event Report: Lolita Kawaii Weekend (better late than never)

Last saturday there was a Lolita event in the Netherlands. You could choose to go to saturday or sunday, or the whole weekend. On saturday there was a teaparty and an afterparty, and on sunday there was a picknick and tour through a castle planned. I only went to the teaparty.

So, after two hours traveling by train, I arrived at Utrecht Centraal in the Netherlands at our meating place. I was early, so there weren't many Lolita's yet, but soon there were a lot! And with such a big group of strangly dressed girls, we were the centre of attention for many other travelers. People took pictures and asked us questions ofcourse. There was even a man who probably wasn't completely sane who sang a random song for us (he couldn't sing at all and it was kinda creepy, but you could also view this as flattering, haha!).

Then, when everybody was there, we headed for the teaparty location, which was at a hotel with lots of rooms suitable for dinner parties and such. We were lucky to get one of the rooms, as it normally wasn't rented to private parties.

First, we had to register and we got a name tag in the shape of a heart. then, after everybody had registered, we went to the actual teaparty room. After we sat down, Misako and RinRin arrived and introduced themselves with some pictures. Then we got to get some of the food available (I loved the macarons and the little sandwiches). Then we had to fill in the bingo card with some of the names of the participants.

it was supposed to be a crab?
Halfway the party we got a cute little piece of mochi in the shape of animals from the Japanese staff. Mine got a few dents, but still edible. It was quite a strange taste and structure. Then we continued with the bingo. I won something! I was quite happy, though nothing of the items were to my taste. But it was still fun!

Heart E OTK, Baby hairtie, Hart E melody hairties, cherry hair clip, pink music note ring and a Hello Kitty eyemask.
Then we got to take pictures with Misako and RinRin and chat with them. It was so much fun and so pretty! There were two girls at out table who wore the same AP print in the same color, only in a different version.

Misako also made a blog post about the teaparty here: http://ameblo.jp/ribbon-misa/page-12.html#main

post cards I got with the teaparty. The Lolitina card got signed by Misako <3

Old School Style Wristcuffs Tutorial

For Oldschool dresses you need matching wristcuffs ofcourse. Because I only had full black tulle wristscuffs, I decided I would make them myself.

Cute and fluffy!
What you need:

- 65 cm ribbon, broadest width (I used 3 cm) in a color that you want to make the cuffs in (I used offwhite)
- 2 m lace (I used 3,5 broad offwhite cotton cluny lace)
- 60-80 cm thin ribbon for decoration
- sewing machine
- elastic
-clear nail polish
- special needle for treading the elastic

step 1:

cut the wide ribbon in two (2x 32,5 cm) and the lace in 4 pieces (4x 50 cm). iron the lace if needed

step 2:

use clear nail polish to prevent the ribbon from fraying. fold the wide ribbon horizontal, so that the width now half of the original width. sew the longest sides close to form a casing for the elastic.

step 3:

ruffle one piece of lace so that it fits on the underside of the casing. sew it down. be careful to leave room for the elastic.

step 4:

ruffle the second piece of lace and place it on the top part of the casing. let a small part of the lace stick out above the ribbon casing. again be careful to leave room for the elastic.

step 5:

cut the elastic so that it fits well around your wrist. thread the elastic through the casing. sew the ends of the elastic down so that it stays in place.

step 6:

put the good sides on top of each other and sew and finish the edges. turn inside out. almost done!

step 7:

tie the thin ribbon like you tie waistties ( http://yaplog.jp/f_l_a_s_c_o/archive/273 ). cut the ribbon to lenght and finish the edges by using the nailpolish. sew the ribbon down on the wristcuff.

step 8:

repeat step 2 to 8 for the other wristcuff!

have fun!

Lolita Kawaii Weekend

next weekend, the 13th and 14th of July, there is the Lolita kawaii Weekend in the Netherlands. Even though the prices of the days are quite expensive, it will probably my only chance on this kind of event.

I bought my ticket late so I only got the Saturday ticket, but I'm still happy that I'm able to go, even though I'll only attent the teaparty.

There is a high tea, 3 famous Lolita icons (including Misako!) and a bingo. I fancy bingos so much :3

Now only hope I'll get my ticket on time. the waiting is killing.

And what to wear?

this one?

or this one?

Dreamdress Illusion

so, I got my Twinkle Journey OP. but sadly, it's too long on me in the bodice part.

I'm not as happy with it as I thought I would be. my favourite dress in my wardrobe is now my alice set in black and white that I traded.

Now I'm selling my TJ, but doesn't really go as I want it.

I spend a lot on a dress that doesn't even fit me well. It's sad. Being short and small in the bust and waist area doesn't mean all dresses will fit you properly. I thought this was one of my dreamprints, but eventually it wasn't. I could have spend the money on at least 2 oldschool baby dresses secondhand.

Now all I can do is look at the dress and hope to sell it.

What to do while waiting for your dreamdress to arrive...

I finally bought one of my dream prints: Twinkle Journey by Metamorphose, the OP in Black.
Unicorn /  Pegasus / Pegacorn?

It arrived about 2 days ago in customs and it's with USPS, so I can expect it to take a while before it gets through the customs.

So what to do while waiting for a dreamdress (when you don't have school or work to go to)?

- Reread all the wardrobe posts on EGL, dreaming about the next wardrobe post when you can show off your new dreamdress
- Download ( or let your BF download it for you :3 ) a series with lots of episodes and seasons and watch those (I'm currenly watching Digimon season 3)
- Have a good friend over for tea
- Go meet up with a crazy Brolita
- Learn a new card game and learn all the good tricks from the more experienced players (I recommend Magic: The Gathering)
- Sew some skirts you can sell
- Stare at your perfect wardrobe
- Sell all your imperfect Lolita pieces
- Figure out which items you still miss in your current wardrobe and make a list of them
- Dress up your Pullip
- Reread all your Mooks
- Figure out 1920's sewing patterns (that do not have colored lines)
- Try out new coords on your mannequin
- Decorate your closet with brand shopping bags and tags
- Dress up your huge teddy bear
- Rearrange all your Lolita clothing in your closet
- Make a gift for a friend who moves away

This should keep me busy for a while, haha!

like a phoenix: a complete new blog

Hello all again!

I'm notorious for abandoning my blogs, so sorry if you wondered where I've been xD

I wanted to go blogging again, especially since I saw my blog on the EGL blog list, haha! I always come back to my blog somehow. Don't expect too many posts, I don't always have inspiration...

As you have probably noticed, the background is a sparkling galaxy! I just love the new galaxy trend, in both  mainstream fashion and Lolita fashion. I still fantasize about making a galaxy printed dress and I still regret not buying galaxy printed pants from the H&M...

but, alas.

Hope you will keep following my blog, even when I don't post for a year!
